Food | First Meal At Bill's

Hello Lovelies! If I'm honest when it comes to restaurants I am usually a bit boring, because if I find one thing I like on the menu I will order it every single time I visit there. Perfect example is Wagamamas - every time I go there I have chicken katsu curry with an iced peach tea because I'm just that adventurous... But unadventurous little me decided that I'd branch out a little and go to my local Bill's (Battersea - Northcote Road) for the first time, with one of my beautiful best friends Zee.

Bill's is a restaurant that I find surprisingly hard to categorise, but I guess you could describe it as a British rustic diner. What's interesting about Bill's its flexibility - you can go there for Brunch, Lunch, Dinner and even Afternoon Tea (reasonably priced at £7.95/£10.95 per person). Beyond their food, they also do cocktails and a wide range of juices and drinks too which is always a plus. When we got to Bill's we were pretty much instantly seduced by the outside tables because sunflowers, but this turned out to be a really bad idea because it started raining! Luckily there were tables free inside so we just evacuated back in.

When we sat down we were offered both the normal menu and the set menu. The set menu is an absolute bargain with two courses costing £9.95 and three £11.95 but we decided to get something from the normal menu instead. They also have a gluten free menu too which you can have a look at online!

Cod Fish Finger Sandwich (£8.95) tartare sauce, rocket and ketchup, on toasted farmhouse, with skin on fries

I ordered the Cod Fish Finger Sandwich mostly because I am a massive fan of tartare sauce and any excuse to eat it is a good excuse. Also I loved the nostalgia factor, as I can remember eating so many fish fingers as a child and was curious to see an updated classier version. Taste wise I wasn't disappointed, the fish fingers were really tasty and the mixture of tartare, rocket and ketchup worked surprisingly well. The rocket itself wasn't very overpowering at all which is great as I'm not the biggest fan of it, and it didn't overpower the ketchup and tartare. Also the fries were really nice too, and I love the fact that they kept the skin on as personally I prefer them that way as it adds a bit of natural taste.

Marinated Chicken Skewers (£10.95) with a cous cous salad of tomato, mint, parsley and lemon, topped with crunchy cucumber, watercress and red onion, tzatziki and warm piadina bread

My friend Zee went for a much healthier option, the Marinated Chicken Skewers, which she thought were really tasty and from what I could see it looked pretty yummy. A lot of people I know who've been to Bill's have said the cous cous is amazing so make sure you give it a go if you're a cous cous fan!

Thank you for reading lovelies! All in all I really enjoyed my experience at Bill's. They have a really exciting menu and the whole atmosphere of the place just makes you want to go back there again! Have you been to Bill's? Let me know in the comment section below.

  3. I'm such a foodie, so I just love this post ha! I used to be such a fussy eater when I was a bit younger, but I'm really branching out these days and love discovering new foods. This looks so cute and seems very reasonably priced! Very enjoyable read :)xx

  4. I am exactly like you, a creature of habits and will always order the same darn thing. Haha! Back in Malaysia, hubby and I love an Italian restaurant and we eat there at least once a week. Each time the menu came, I will spend 15-20 minutes looking at it but in the end I always order Pasta Carbonara. There were a couple of times my husband got sick of waiting for me to make p my mind that he placed the order for me instead. LOL! And dang, I am a huge fan of tartar sauce too and I think I'll make fish and chips tonight!
