Review: Bourjois Smoky Eyes Trio

Hello Lovelies! If you've followed my blog for a while, you will know that Bourjois is my favourite Drugstore brand, because I've loved virtually every product I've ever tried from them. I actually got The Smoky Eyes Trio - Gris Dandy (£7.99) in a free gift set around Christmas time, after I spent £15.00 on Bourjois so it wasn't exactly what I would pick for myself colour wise but I gave it a go anyway.

First thoughts is I love the compact packaging, with the double ended applicator and the three eyeshadows and instructions on the back on how to apply it. The only thing that would make this better is a mirror, but otherwise I really love the packaging.

When I tried applying this as shown on the back, I ended up looking a little like a street walker, it was just way too much for me personally. It's super dark even when you blend the lighter colour in. But the actual eyeshadows are really good quality as they are super pigmented, so I will probably use them on their own and not together, as in particular I love the shimmery light grey shade.

Personally I didn't like this particular eye shadow trio, simply because I don't love such a dramatic smoky eye but the packaging and the eye shadow quality is great, so if you're looking for something like this - I would definitely recommend it. I will probably pick up one of their other smoky eyes trio set but in rose vintage which is a lovely selection of pink/purple colours.

Have you ever tried Bourjois's Smoky eye trio in any of its shades? Let me know in the comment section below!

    1. I was actually thinking when I wrote this that you guys would love it - because the colours are so dramatic. I think I did see it on your blog because I know you guys are big Bourjois fans! :)

  2. I only really like the bourjois bronzers. Nothing strikes me as amazing from bourjois.
I prefer Rimmel London. I will always be a rimmel girl I think.
I think this quad is a tad dramatic.
I prefer brown smokey eyes to black ones.

Nice to see you doing some beauty reviews as opposed to lush ones which you usually do, quite refreshing.

    1. The actual products from Bourjois have never attracted me much (the packaging and idea etc..) but I've always had good experiences and loved the quality! Rimmel is an amazing brand, one of my favourites too! Yeah, I know what you mean, it was actually quite refreshing to write this too! I've just had so many Lush things lately, that I always find myself reviewing them haha.

  3. Bourjois is one of my favourite brands too, especially for lip products. I've never tied their eye shadows tho but these look good, especially the pigmentation. :)

  4. I think i've seen a pinky one that has really lovely shades! But i was always put off because I read a lot about the pigmentation being poor so it's nice to hear your view as well. Lovely post :) xx

    1. Yeah there is one like that! Oh really? I found no problems with the pigmentation at all, but they are quite shimmery and maybe not as bold as some other brands (hope that makes sense haha).

  5. I wish we had Bourjois here, I'm dying to get my hands on some of their products. I always hear great things about the brand, especially their lip products.

    1. That's a shame, I thought they were pretty much a universal brand - but I hope they expand to you soon :)

  6. LMAOOO at street walker, oh sweetie, you have such an adorable, sweet and gentle face, I doubt that anything can make you look like one....I hope? LOL! You really got me LOL at that.

I do like the look of these shadows, the swatches looks amazing but I'm like you, I can't carry deep, heavy smokey eyes. I'll look like a haggard old hooker. LOL!

    1. Haha, well I actually agree, I have a very innocent looking face so that's probably why it looked so strange on me. I don't know haha. This kind of reminds me of the day someone mistook me for being homeless (lol).

Yeah I've always wanted to be able to pull of dark eye looks but it really doesn't work so well for me!

  7. I received this as a present last year and although it's something I would probably never choose myself, I actually really like it. It is a bit dark for me but I really like the middle blueish grey colour and I use it sometimes when I'm going on a night out and want more dramatic make up.

    1. Yeah I like that the grey has a slightly bluish tone to it too!

  8. This sounds really nice, and it would probably be wonderful in a set of lighter colours ♥
