Review: Lush's Bubblegrub Bubbleroon

Hey lovelies! Guess who went on yet another Lush splurge? Surprise, surprise, I did! When I saw this adorable little caterpillar like thing I just had to get one. If you didn't know already, Lush recently came out with it's new Mother's Day collection which has a earthy/garden theme. When I went to the Lush store in Waterloo, I was a little annoyed at how many Bubblegrubs were damaged. This was practically the only one that actually had two eyes and two ears (antennas?) and the Mother Superior Bubble bars also looked a little bashed which is really a shame considering they both look so cute when properly made. But anyway, onto the Bubblegrub.

People seem to have really mixed feelings about the Bubblegrub Bubbleroon (£2.95) with many saying that they absolutely hate the smell because it is so earthy and some saying that they absolutely love the smell. Personally I liked the scent, not really loved but I definitely liked it. I'm not really sure how to describe the smell, but it does smell quite earthy. I'm not really sure what a Bubbleroon is but it's essentially a bubble bar but in two parts I think - if anyone knows, please tell me in the comments!

As with every adorable product Lush makes, I was reluctant to use it, and had even nick-named him Mr. Bubblegrub which made it a little awkward when I ended up crumbling him up under the tap. The interesting thing about this product is that you can potentially use it for two baths, with the orange part for one and the green part for another. However I decided to use it all at once to see how the colour would turn out. As you can see the colour turned out quite murky, being a mixture of both green and orange, but I didn't really mind this too much - even though I know it probably won't appeal to many. Colour aside, it made my bath lovely and bubbly so I wasn't disappointed.

All in all I do really love the Bubblegrub, even though I think in this case I prefer the design to the actual product as I wasn't really blown away by either the colour or the scent.

Have a great day lovelies! Will you be trying any of Lush's new collection? Let me know in the comment section below!

  2. Are these Bubbleroons a fancy version of the bubble bars? They sure are cute though I personally prefer the bath bombs since I don't love mounds of bubbles. Maybe I'm weird, haha!

  6. Love your honest review, Vicky! I personally think this is one of the ugliest Lush product but it's so ugly to the point that it becomes cute. Am I making any sense here? LOL!

  7. Absolutely love this review. I'm thinking about buying this bar because it's so cute, although the earthy smell makes me hesitant on buying it. But for £2.95, I suppose if it's horrendous it's not a huge loss. I'm curious why it's called a bubbleroon as well, haha. x

  10. Love your lush reviews. I am looking forward to getting some products from the new collection myself. :)
I think it's called a bubbleroon as a play on the term "macaroon" which has two parts to it. :)

  12. I'm so jealous that you have a tub to take baths in... even though that sounds so weird. I live in an apartment and I'm a bit wary of soaking in the bathtub. I love Lush's other products like the Celestial Moisturizer though (:

  15. This collection is so cute and different to the usual Lush smell. I think this bubble bar is so cute and I would be so tempted to buy it just because how cute it looks. It's a shame it didn't look nice in the water but it definitely foamed up! x
