Lifestyle | Being A Woman In A Trump World

Hello Lovelies! I must've written this post in my head about a billion times but lord knows for some reason I just haven't been able to put exactly how I feel into words. Maybe I've worried that I'll come off melodramatic, or that I'll blow everything completely out of proportion. Heck, maybe I just don't want to talk about the world right now but at the same time I feel like I have to because I feel so many things.

When I think about Donald Trump, one of the ideas that I can't get out of my head is the idea of being left alone in a room with him. You know if you left me alone in a room with Obama, I'd be so excited. I would ask him so many questions, and I feel like I could learn a lot from him. My respect for Obama is boundless. Trump on the other hand, best case scenario you're left alone with him and have a dull conversation, worst case scenario he's sexist and condescending, even worser case scenario he tries to take advantage of you. And you know call me melodramatic, but what exactly can you expect from a man who boasts about being able to take advantage of women, peek at beauty contestants whilst they're changing and has been accused of sexual assault.

Even worse, think about the message he sends out to men in America on how they can treat women. In a country where Brock Turner brutally raped someone, and only served three months in jail, we don't exactly need a man who casually talks about grabbing women as the president. I mean let's be real guys, we are somehow still debating if a woman wearing a short skirt is a rape invitation. And you know what America has a president now, who would probably agree she was asking for it. And that's not even getting started on his policies on abortions, birth control... There are actually no words.

But even then, Trump's sexism is only the tip of the iceberg. I have honestly been shocked by his actions today. Banning people who come from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan or Yemen just isn't acceptable. Not only is he stopping refugees, but he's also stopping green card holders too. So you might legally have the right to live in America, but if you've left before this policy came through you can't actually come back. His policies are honestly just sickening. One of my Asian friends told me that he won't go into work with a backpack because he doesn't want to scare people. He told me that maybe next time he goes to America he'll have to go with white guys too, because he might be detained. And you know what it's just ridiculous. America is a country thats very foundation is built on immigration. Hell, even Trump's mother was an immigrant and his father was the son of a German immigrant. So if it wasn't for immigration Trump wouldn't be the American president (and yes even after that revelation I am still pro-immigration...).

And the worst part is things don't have to even be this way. The world isn't ever going to be perfect, but this sort of discrimination only divides people. In many ways, I feel like I could say so much on this, but in a lot of ways I really don't feel like I have the words anymore... I'm just so fed up.

But anyway thank you for reading lovelies! Sorry if this post depressed you a bit but I needed to have a rant on it all.

  2. This is such a great post and I agree with everything you've said. Trump is a dangerous man and I dread to think what more harm he can do during his presidency.
