The Single Girl Diaries | Here's To Being Forever Alone In 2016

Hello Lovelies! It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single woman must be in want of a partner. Or at least that's what the whole world seems to be telling us. There are those of us in amazing loved up relationships (totally not jealous, promise) and then there's us single ladies who are totally rocking that single thing - or at least in my case trying to. Now, I'm not going to lie and pretend that I wouldn't love to be in a relationship, because who am I kidding, I would. For as long as I can remember I've been a hopeless romantic, and it all started with Mr Darcy - thanks for the unrealistic expectations Austen! I'm that girl who cries at weddings, relentlessly rewinds rom coms to all the cute parts and doesn't bat an eyelid at the idea of being married to someone for years and years.

So it will probably come as a surprise when I say that my New Year's Resolution is to embrace being single, and dare I say it stay single for the whole of 2016 (which knowing me won't be hard). Truth is I'm already tired of dating. I've had my fair share of awful dates, heartbreaks and truly unpredictable male behaviour and it's got to a point where it's actually getting ridiculous. Whoever said that women were the complicated ones obviously did not give men enough credit. For 2016 I wanted to give myself a break, after all I'm only 19 and I've already had way too much boy related stress for it to be worth it. So unless anyone absolutely amazing comes along, I'm adamant on staying single. But instead of having one big pity party about being 'forever alone', I decided to start a fun series about being the single girl talking about all the perks and adventures along the way. After all in the blogging world we are constantly bombarded with what appear to be 'perfect lives' and every now and then it's good to break that illusion and be honest. Hence me broadcasting that I'm single to the world, which will probably end up epically back-firing.

First on the agenda of embracing my single life is taking advantage of all that free time and making my blog the best thing it can be. As you might have noticed I've even given my little corner of the internet a makeover to look that little bit more professional. I'm also working on doing some new outfit posts (yay) and pushing myself to get more and more confident. But that's it for now. Here's to 2016 and new beginnings. I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and enjoy the rest of your holiday!

Thought of the day: 'It is a truth universally acknowledged that when one part of your life starts going okay, another falls spectacularly to pieces' - Bridget Jones

Man crush: Aidan Turner (aka Poldark) in And Then There Were None. Seriously men that attractive should not be allowed to dress that well. HOTNESS OVERLOAD.

Perk of being single: Not worrying about how much I eat. Bring on the Christmas leftovers.

Thanks for reading lovelies! Do let me know if you want to see more of this series as it's so different to what I usually write!

  3. Great idea! So true that men do not get enough credit for being complicated! People seem to think if you're not in a relationship you must either want to be or not be happy which isn't necessarily true. Can't wait to read your next post!

  4. I LOVE this idea. Good on you, lady! Relationships should never be the be all and end all, especially at the age of 19! In other news, I forgot to watch And Then There Were None and I'm gutted! x

  6. As long as you are happy in yourself that is all that should matter. :)
I am sorry to hear that you haven't had the best experience with boys, and even though I have a boyfriend I will be reading this series of yours. I hope you had a lovely Christmas, also love the new layout!

  8. A great idea! And I'm totally with you on the Aidan Turner front. He's a beautiful man! I remember at the last Hobbit film premiere, me and my friend managed to meet him - so lovely. So dapper. Such pretty. Much wow. I'll shut up now.

  10. I am liking a lot your new blog design! Yes embrace your single life , nothing bad about it and indeed you are only 19. I know how it feel to be single and keep meeting idiots as have been there millions of times...but after years of single life I met the one , 5 years ago so don't worry . Just enjoy your single life for now and you'll see things will just fall into place in your own time. :)

  11. Yes! I spent way too long as a teenager and in my early 20s jumping from relationship to relationship and basically literally never being single. Then one day I just got sick of it and all the drama that comes with relationships and dating and had probably one of the better times of my adult life!
