Beauty | A Max Factor Haul

Hello Lovelies! Happy New Year! After accidentally leaving ALL my makeup at home when I went on holiday to Suffolk, I had the perfect excuse to go out and splurge on some new makeup. Luckily Boots had a really neat deal on where if you spent over £15.00 on Maxfactor you'd get this gift bag including their primer, mascara and lip gloss so I was able to get essentially a full face of makeup for a complete bargain. Aren't beauty deals the best?

One of Max Factor's products I've been dying to try for the longest time is their Creme Puff Blush (£8.99) which I picked up in the shade Lovely Pink. As you can see from my swatch, the shade almost matches my skin tone so is actually very subtle. Nevertheless this blusher still shines out as it's very shimmery, giving your skin a lovely feminine glow.

When I first swatched Max Factor's Colour Elixir Lip Gloss in Captivating Ruby (£8.99), I didn't really like it. However, on the lips it comes out as a really pretty red-pink shade that avoids the overpowering nature of your typical red. Texture wise, it's not a bad lip gloss at all. A lot of them I find too sticky or gloopy, but this has a thin texture that you can build up instead. As far as staying power goes, this is pretty average. As soon as you drink or eat anything, it's going to budge - but what lip glosses don't?

Maxfactor's Facefinity Primer (£10.99) has got me feeling all kinds of feels. Let's start with the positives. It's light weight, non-greasy and rather than a silicone texture it's much more like a moisturiser making it perfect for girls with oily skin. It also has SPF 20 so perfect for those Summer months too. The major downside for me though is that it really smells of plastic, so if you hate anything scented that's something to keep in mind. Plastic scent aside, this primer is actually pretty good. It helps to create a smooth base of foundation, and definitely helps prolong your foundation too.

Now onto the foundation. For someone who blogs about beauty, I have tried a shockingly little number of foundations. Blame Bourjois Healthy Mix for becoming my bae and blinding me to any other choices... So I was definitely a little cautious to try something new as the queen of unexpected breakouts...

Maxfactor Miracle Match Shade-Matching Foundation (£12.99) claims to create a natural dewy complexion, with a light weight formula that helps to blur away any imperfections. I chose this foundation in the shade warm almond (45), which is the second lightest shade. Warm almond blends perfectly into my skin tone, so that's the first positive. Secondly it is a really lovely light formula that you can build up to a pretty good coverage. Personally I hate any heavy coverage so this is perfect for me. My only downside really is that it did cling to dry patches on my skin a bit more than I would have liked, and also I prefer a matte coverage. But the good thing is this foundation didn't break me out - so I'm definitely happy with it!

Maxfactor-False-Lash-Effect

Finally, let's move on to a staple of my beauty bag, the Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara (£10.99). This has been one of my all time beauty favourites for a long time, with good reason. Whenever I want bold voluminous lashes, I always reach straight for this mascara as it always delivers that perfect false lash look. My only criticism really is that this mascara can be a tad heavy on the lashes, and has a tendency to build up a bit just because the brush is so thick. But if you love volume, I'd recommend this in a heartbeat.

After trying out all that Maxfactor makeup, I'm convinced I should try more so if you have any recommendations do let me know! As for 2017, I hope the year goes amazingly for you. I have some really exciting content to share with you this year - and I honestly can't wait! My blog has grown so much over the past two years, so I hope in 2017 I can grow even further.

  1. ive not tried much of max factor to be honest, but the primer (apart from its smell) sounds good and affordable! One for me to try when baby skin from maybelline runs out!

  2. Max Factor is the sister brand of CoverGirl so I know they share many similar products but I have little luck with CoverGirl in general so I'm not sure if Max Factor would suit me at all.
