Beauty | Maybelline Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

Hello Lovelies! When I first saw this eyeshadow palette I was the heart eye emoji in human form. I fell for the shades, and of course that absolutely gorgeous rose gold packaging too. It was basically love at first sight, and I knew I had to have it. Adding to its pretty exterior, at £9.99 it doesn't break the bank either making the Maybelline Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette a nice and affordable option for any girl who loves eyeshadow but can't quite afford a Naked Palette (it looks a lot like Naked 3!).

Before we get on to the eyeshadows, let's talk about the packaging. The Blushed Nudes come in a rose gold plastic case, which is reasonably sturdy but I've heard a LOT about this palette being a nightmare to travel with. Apparently the shades fall out and break easily so that is definitely something to think about if you're considering travelling around with them. But if you're just going to place this away in your beauty storage then it's probably something you won't have to worry about. On the back of the palette, Maybelline give you suggestions on how you can combine the shades if you want some inspiration which is a nice little touch. I also like that the applicator isn't the standard, as it has a sponge on one end and a brush on the other although chances are I won't ever use it anyway, but hey it's a nice change.

Sadly Maybelline didn't come up with any funny or sassy names for their shades, so I've numbered them all for you because I'm helpful like that... As you can see shades 1-5 are pretty non-existent, and 1 is a borderline Edward Cullen shade and makes me look like a sparkly Vampire which isn't exactly the look I go for. But on the other hand shades 6-12 are lovely and pigmented. One of the first things I noticed about these eyeshadows is disappointingly they are very chalky, and don't have that lovely creamy texture that some of the other palettes do. The pigmentation is definitely also lacking and I feel like you really need to build these colours up to get the colour pay off you want. Adding to that these do have a lot of fall out and when applying you really do have to be careful because I've ended up with a lot of eyeshadow falling onto my cheeks.

And yes I know I sound like a total Negative Nancy, but I actually felt super disappointed with this palette but there are some positives. Like I say these shades are gorgeous and super wearable, and funnily enough despite being the weaker shades 1-5 have been a bit of a staple in my daily beauty looks. But you know I think in beauty there are the products that will work for you, and the ones that you have to make work for you. The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow is definitely the latter. Without the crutch of a good eyeshadow primer, these beautiful shades will fade away like there's no tomorrow which is a shame really because they are gorgeous.

Thanks for reading lovelies! Also seeing as I haven't been posting so much I've decided to challenge myself to post every day for a month or so (probably famous last words) but hey I'll give it a go.

  5. Wish the shades 1-5 had a stronger colour payoff cause they basically look transparent. I've seen this lots in the drugstore but boy I'm glad I never picked it up!
